Workshop Events

This virtual educational series will give families and adults a chance to use simple tools and craftsmanship to create a unique asset to wildlife in their backyard. This ‘DIY’ experience is a great pandemic-safe way to support and learn about wildlife in your backyard!

During the event, you will learn step by step how to build the project and learn about the animals you are benefitting!

Complete registration will gain you a 'builders kit' with all the materials needed to complete the project. Pick-up of the kits will occur on the weekend before the event in Omaha. Delivery is NOT available. Click on each activity to review cost per kit.

  • In this wildlife supporting DIY event we will be creating bird houses to be mounted in your backyard on trees or existing structures!

Bird houses create a safe space for cavity-nesting birds (or other wildlife!) to shelter, have babies and endure harsh weather.

PICK UP in Omaha required. Pick up will occur Friday the 19th between 4-6PM and Saturday the 20th between 2-4PM at the Canfield Plaza parking lot on 84th and Center near the Scooters Coffee building!

This activity is $25 per kit.

  • During this project, we will be making a bat house!

Bat houses create a secure and warm place for these mosquito-eating critters to sleep during the day. Come join us as we create a home for the bats in your backyard and learn more about them!

Pick-up of builders materials will occur Sat-Sun-Mon leading up to the event at 'For the Wild Birds' on Frederick Street during their normal business hours. Note: You MUST register and pay BEFORE picking up your kit!

This activity is $35 per kit.

  • This at-home project will give your yard an easily hung 'hotel' for cavity-dwelling, solitary insects such as Mason Bees!

Mason bees are important pollinators - (more than 120 times more effective than honey or bumblebees!) and do not form colonies. They can be bright colors and would love to make a home in your yard!

  • This week, we will create an underground habitat out of a pot, garden hose, chicken wire and some old fashioned digging!

There are about 20 species of bumblebees in Nebraska- including four species at-risk! Support these fuzzy, buzzing pollinators by creating a safe space for Queen bumblebees to create their hive in their favorite location- underground!
