Cleaning Specialists play a huge role behind-the-scenes by helping to disinfect enclosures, launder linens, sweep/mop around the wildlife center, and uphold biosecurity protocols. These tasks are all essential to the daily success of our work, and without clean dishes and laundry all animal care would come to a grinding halt. It's an ideal opportunity for detail-oriented individuals passionate about animal welfare, conservation, and supporting lifesaving rehabilitation work.
Accessibility & Physical Requirements
Cleaning Specialist volunteers play a vital role in keeping our facility safe and healthy for both animals and people. The majority of cleaning tasks are performed while standing, and volunteers should be prepared to remain on their feet for much or all of a typical two-hour shift. Duties may also include occasional bending or leaning, such as when cleaning lint traps on dryers or tending to lower surfaces in the laundry room. Some tasks may require lifting and carrying full mop buckets (~20 pounds) and lifting them to dump into designated disposal areas. While we aim to support volunteers whenever possible, we are not always able to modify task requirements or schedules. We encourage prospective volunteers to consider these physical expectations and reach out with any questions to help determine whether this role is a good fit.
