Enrichment is the practice of providing animals with stimulating environments that encourage natural behaviors like climbing, exploring, problem-solving, and resting in species-appropriate ways. For wildlife in care, enrichment reduces stress, prevents boredom, promotes physical conditioning, and helps maintain the skills animals need for a successful return to the wild. Through creativity and hands-on work, enrichment volunteers directly enhance quality of life and recovery for the animals in our care.
Enrichment Collection & Building Volunteers gather natural materials, such as leaves, branches, grasses, and bark, and/or help design and build enrichment items ranging from simple foraging opportunities to elaborate perching and platform structures in our outdoor enclosures.
